England and it's World Cup dreams.

Gerrard has by his own admission not hit top gear during parts of 2009-10 - but Capello has no concerns on the day when he will name his provisional 30-man squad for South Africa.

"Some players are really important to the manager and I know Steven very well," Capello said.

"I am sure Steven will be one of our most important players at the World Cup. He knows everything that is expected of him during the games.

"When you start out as manager of a team and try to create one style on the pitch and the spirit of the group, these kind of players are really important."

Gerrard netted 12 goals in 2009-10 including a screamer at Burnley which Reds fans voted Goal of the Month for April.

Moreover, our No.23 has been named in Fabio Capello's provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup three years after retiring from international duty.

Carragher is almost certain to make the final 23-man selection for the trip to South Africa.

"The FA got in touch and asked if I would have a rethink, due to injury problems. I said I would make myself available," said the 32-year-old.

"The World Cup and Champions League are the highest levels of football.

"I'm not getting any younger, we have no Champions League football next season and I am keen to work under Fabio Capello."
