Rafael Benitez believes Liverpool are on the verge of seeing the best of Alberto Aquilani.

The Italian made only his 26th appearance for the Reds in Sunday's 0-0 draw at Hull City and the boss reckons he has now come to grips with what it takes to be a key player in the Barclays Premier League.

Benitez said: "He has been injured for a while. Now he is playing more games and training every day.

"Now he understands the Premier League much better."

The boss was also keen to pay tribute to Chelsea, who secured the title with an 8-0 rout of Wigan.

"I would like to pass on my congratulations to Chelsea," he added. "The best team won and so did the best manager."
