French striker Loic Remy has boosted Roy Hodgson by claiming Liverpool are his No 1 choice.
Tottenham rival Liverpool in the race for the Nice hitman and are prepared to match the Reds' imminent £12million offer .
"It will be a choice between two clubs with big futures," said Remy, who has won one cap for France.
"I have a slight preference for a prestige club like Liverpool, even though Tottenham are also very, very interesting.
"Nothing has been decided. Wherever I play, I'll have to fight and work hard to win my place."
Liverpool are in pole position after West Ham failed with a £12million bid on Wednesday when the two clubs could not agree the details of the transfer fee and instalment payments.
Remy came through the youth ranks at Lyon under ex-Reds boss Gerard Houllier before joining Nice in 2008.
He caught Hodgson's eye when he scored 11 league goals in his first season at Nice and finished the 2009-10 campaign with 14 goals from 34 Ligue 1 appearances.
Meanwhile, Emiliano Insua is set to complete his £5million switch to Fiorentina, while the Reds have told Benfica they must pay £700,000 for French midfielder Damien Plessis.
