Barcelona and Liverpool are in talks over a move for midfielder Javier Mascherano, with Inter Milan having pulled out.

Mascherano has made it clear that he wants to leave Anfield with his family unable to settle in Liverpool. Although former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was thought to want to bring Mascherano to the San Siro, Inter

Milan owner Massimo Morra
ti reportedly assured Liverpool that the club will not chase after the Argentina captain.

This has left Barcelona in the driving seat to sign Mascherano. Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has made it clear that he will only let Mascherano leave if the price is right and according to Spanish daily Sport, the two clubs are in talks to agree a suitable fee.

Apparently, Pep Guardiola has been given the funds to finance a move and Sport claims that "Barcelona and Liverpool are already in negotiations and now it is up to both clubs to reach an agreement because everything is OK with the player."
