"That's what we expect from Fernando," Lucas told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"When Fernando strikes a ball at goal always it is difficult for any goalkeeper. He showed again he is a top class striker and we hope he can now get many goals for us between now and the end of the season.
"He has showed a lot of quality since he came to Liverpool. He is also a really nice man and a really good professional and we are happy to have him in our team.
"It was an important victory for us and I thought we deserved the three points.
"They played well and they have got some good players. They tried to keep the ball and try and stop us from playing but I don't think they had too many chances.
"They had some possession but I thought we created more chances.
"We want to fight for every point and stay in the race for the top-four and hopefully we can keep the same attitude and same determination to try and win every game we play.
"The manager was delighted to win his first Premier League game of the season with Liverpool and it was important we won this game, especially as we now go into the international break.
"When we return we have to be ready and looking for another three points when we go to Birmingham City.
"I think the team will continue to improve and the most important thing was to get the three points."
Liverpool's No.21 has also welcomed the arrival of Portugal star Raul Meireles and believes his quality will give the squad a major boost.
"He's a really good player and it's always important to have good players in the squad," he added.
"We have plenty of games and everyone will have a chance to play.
"There is good competition for places and I will keep working really hard and try my best in every game."
