Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is thrilled to have beaten Liverpool at Anfield.
The Seasiders made to trip to Merseyside and locked horns with Roy Hodgson's men and emerged triumphant with a 2-1 score line at the end of 90 minutes plus added time.
Charlie Adam opened the proceedings after scoring a penalty, while Luke Varney doubled the advantage just before the break. Reds defender Sotiris Kyrgiakos managed to score through a header and put his side within reach of carving out a draw, but resolute defending from Holloway's charges saw them secure an impressive victory.
The home crowd applauded the Blackpool players off the pitch, and Holloway told reporters: ""It is one of the dreams I've had for years.
"When the fans were singing You'll Never Walk Alone - it's my dad's favourite song but he's no longer with me - I was singing myself and it was a bit emotional.
"This is not far off the home of football - these supporters have seen some of the best football over the years and in my era as a player there was no better team in the world.
"The boys made me so proud and for that set of supporters to clap us off that is all I wanted - that was what my dream was last night.
"This is a fantastic moment for Blackpool."
Coming back to ground level, Holloway admitted that the sight of Reds striker Fernando Torres being substituted early on gave his side a confidence boost.
"To see the best striker in the world limp off after a few minutes, I can't tell you what that did for us," he added.
"His mere presence is awesome so to see him come off played into our hands and helped us."
