The Seasiders head to Anfield this Sunday in search of their third away victory this season and currently sit one place and one point ahead of Roy Hodgson's side.
The trip will be Blackpool's third of the so-called 'big four' and Gilks is glad to get them out of the way early on.
"We're going to get them in early doors and get them out of the way," he said. "Hopefully we can go to Liverpool in a good vein of form, I know we got beat last weekend but we're still playing well.
"I think if we get anything at Liverpool it will be a good result. They're one of the top clubs in the league so a win or a draw at Anfield is very good result.
"We'll go there and look at their team and their form and go knowing that we can give them a good game.
"They've got strength in depth in every position in the squad, that's why they're one of the biggest clubs in the world. They've got players that can come in and do a job all over the pitch and despite their form, when they get it together and click they'll give a few teams a good hiding this year.
"A new manager has gone in and you've got to give him time to get to know everybody and get to know the shape of how they play. I'm sure they'll be up there at the end of the season," he added.
The 28-year-old will head off on international duty following the game to link-up with the Scotland squad for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Spain.
"Just to be involved is a bigger achievement than anything at the moment," he said of his latest call to Craig Levein's squad. "If I could get a game then that would cement it for me, but to be involved is what matters really.
"They're going to be two tough games for the squad, but we've got players there who can cope with that. Hopefully we can go to the Czech Republic and get a result there and then at Hampden against Spain it will be a wonderful evening and hopefully a wonderful result."
