According to reports, Jose Mourinho ready to make an offer for Glen Johnson.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is ready to raid Liverpool in the January transfer window according to reports in Spain with a move for England international Glen Johnson.

Johnson has hit-out at his manager following Hodgson’s public criticism of his early-season form earlier last week. The England right-back has reportedly asked new Director of Football Strategy Damien Comolli for an urgent meeting regarding his future following Hodgson’s criticism.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp is an admirer of the defender having managed him at Portsmouth, and would consider making an offer in order to plug the lilywhite’s problem right back spot at White Hart Lane. Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez could move to re-sign his former defender at Inter Milan, however Mourinho has emerged as the favourite to sign Johnson.

Johnson is at Melwood, Liverpool’s training ground, this week nursing a groin problem after not being selected in the England squad for the friendly against France. The 26-year-old defender will look to sit-down with the club following Hodgson’s criticism and make a decision on his future at the club.

Hodgson said about Johnson’s form: “To be frank, he has not performed up to now to the level I would expect of him. You would have to ask him the question, ‘Do you think you are playing at top form and are you playing like the best right-back in the country for your club?’

“If he says ‘yes’, we will have to agree to differ. And if he says ‘no’, then you have to ask the question, why not?”
